About Eric Bjornsen

Eric, the most recent addition to Equinox, came aboard to sing lead in the Fall of 2007. He entered the barbershop world in 2001 after a chance encounter with a one-man, cowboy band. Returning from a family vacation through middle-of-nowhere, Utah, Eric and family stopped at a small roadside diner and listened to the cowboy entertain the few remaining guests as the restaurant prepared to close. Eric decided to ask the cowboy if they could sing a few songs together. Before long, both were playing guitar and singing John Denver songs, as the wait staff gathered around to enjoy. The cowboy asked Eric about his musical background. After Eric told him about his desire to someday sing in a Barbershop quartet, the cowboy informed him of the Barbershop chorus in Phoenix (now called the Spirit of Phoenix). Armed with the website address, Eric arrived home the next day, attended the chorus rehearsal the next night, and has been a Barbershopper ever since.

Eric continues to sing with the Spirit of Phoenix Chorus, and is part of its musical leadership. Much to Eric's delight, his 9 year-old son also sings in the chorus.

Guitar lessons gave Eric his introduction to music, from age 6 to 13. He later served as song leader for church youth groups and participated in various choir and drama activities. As for quarteting, Equinox is not Eric's first. He sang baritone with High Five, and lead with the Sharpshooters and Xtreme.

Eric received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and holds an MBA from Arizona State University. He lives with his lovely wife, Dana, and children, Anna (12), and Joe (9), in Scottsdale, Arizona. After spending several years in various positions within the IT/sales arena, Eric is currently pursuing a new career in commercial real estate.
