About Dave Baker

Dave joined the Barbershop Harmony Society in 2001, and has been active in the barbershop hobby since 1999. He has sung with five choruses and three registered quartets, and has been lucky enough to have some great experiences. Some of these include his stint as director of Four Corners Harmony, a trip to Harmony College 2004, singing the national anthem for a Utah Jazz game, and the chance to compete alongside his son in the international chorus competition in Denver in 2007.

He started out singing lead with the Bridgerland Barbershop Chorus in Logan, Utah, where he also sang tenor with the quartet Voted Off the Island. Next came a dual membership with Four Corners Harmony in Farmington, New Mexico (where he also served as director), and with the Durango Narrowgauge Chorus in Durango, Colorado. A job change took him to Indiana, where sang with the Valparaiso Masters of Harmony, and also with the quartet Just Us Guys. He now makes his home in Glendale, Arizona, where he is one of the major reasons the tenor section in the Spirit of Phoenix chorus tends to sing sharp.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Dave began his musical "career" singing in church, then spent several years as a member of the Phoenix Boys Choir. After his family moved to Hawaii, he spent seven years during high school and college as an musician in the Polynesian Cultural Center Brass Band. It was in Hawaii that he had his first barbershop experience, with an ad hoc quartet for a school talent show.

Dave works as an Internet marketing manager in the auto finance industry. With his wife, Melanie (who did her master's work in choral conducting), he has three young children: Ian, Nathan and Megan.

Dave has an extensive barbershopping section on his home page.
